Political Consultants

Richard D. McLellan, political consultant,
serves as a legislative consultant to the Campaign for Justice.  Mr. McLellan is Senior Counsel to Dykema Gossett PLLC after his retirement in 2007 as the Office Managing Member of Dykema's Lansing Office and the Director of the firm's Government Policy Department.  His practice involves extensive work in Indian law, education law, ethics and political compliance, energy and insurance regulation.

Jean Doss, political consultant, has over 20 years of governmental relations experience through her work with professional associations, nonprofit human service organizations, social justice initiatives, state consumer advocacy and occupational health programs.  In 2005, she launched her own governmental consulting firm, J. Doss Consulting, LLC.

Mary Lannoye, political consultant (appropriations), has extensive state and local government experience, with particular expertise in public policy and finance.  She was employed by the State of Michigan for 15 years with her most recent position as Governor Granholm's Chief of Staff.  Ms. Lannoye also served as Budget Director for both Governors Granholm and Engler.  She started her career in state government as the Budget and Finance Officer for the then Michigan Department of Public Health.

Communications Consultants

Lori Wortz, communications consultant, with WWP Strategies, servies as an issue management consultant to the Campaign.  Ms. Wortz specializes in strategic planning for public policy issue management campaigns, ballot proposal campaigns and grassroots/grasstops mobilization.

Matthew Resch, communications consultant, with Resch Strategies serves as communications consultant to the Campaign.  He began his communications and public relations career in the Michigan governor's office, serving as Deputy Communications Director for Governor John Engler and Press Secretary to Lt. Governor Dick Posthumus.  Since leaving that role at the end of the Engler Administration, Resch has directed public and media relations efforts on behalf of two state Speakers of the House, a Fortune 20 company, a state legislative caucus, a statewide ballet effort and a presidential campaign.

Karla Coleman, communications consultant (niche markets) with Thornhill Communications, is the president and CEO of Thornhill Communications LLC.  Ms. Coleman has more than 20 years of experience in public relations, marketing and event planning for Fortune 500 companies.  Thornhill Communications is a full-service communications firm located in Auburn Hills, Michigan and offers public relations, strategic planning, writing, and event production services.

Trevor Coleman, communications consultant (niche markets) with Thronhill Communications, is Vice President for Communications and Development for Thornhill Communications; a full service communications firm located in Auburn Hills, Michigan.  He has held that position since June 2009.

Organizing Consultants

Regina Daniels Thomas, organizing contract consultant, most recently serves as chief counsel for the Juvenile Law Group of Legal Aid and Defender Association (LADA).  Her practice involved representing children in child protection and delinquency proceedings in the Third Circuit Court Family Division, Juvenile Section.  Prior to returning to LADA as chief counsel in 2004, Thomas represented the Department of Human Services in child protection proceedings as an assistant attorney general for the State of Michigan, assigned to the Children and Youth Services Section.  Thomas received her Bachelor of Sciences Degree from Tennessee State University and her law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School.

Kaye McDuffie, organizing contract consultant with McDuffie and Associates, has worked as an advocate for youth involved in Michigan's juvenile justice system for the last twenty years, providing education and training for youth as peer educators.  She has worked with families, agencies and communities to reduce social injustices and health disparities.

Amit Weitzer, organizing contract consultant (Southeast Michigan focus), serves as a contract field organizer for the Campaign.  She assists with coalition building, volunteer management and public education efforts.  Ms. Weitzer is a graduate of the University of Michigan's Residential College with a degree in Crime and Justice and Urban and Community Studies.
